รางวัลนักฟุตบอลยอดเยี่ยมของสมาคมผู้สื่อข่าวอังกฤษ เริ่มต้นขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 1947 เป็นรางวัลประจำปีที่มอบให้แก่นักฟุตบอลที่ถูกตัดสินว่าดีที่สุดของฤดูกาลในฟุตบอลอังกฤษ[1] รางวัลนี้เริ่มมอบตั้งแต่ฤดูกาล 1947-48 ผู้ได้รับรางวัลคนแรกคือ สแตนลีย์ แมตทิวส์ ปีกของแบล็กพูล ผู้ได้รับรางวัลคนล่าสุด (ฤดูกาล 2019-20) คือ จอร์แดน เฮนเดอร์สัน สโมสรฟุตบอลลิเวอร์พูล

มีผู้เล่นแปดคนที่ได้รับรางวัลมากกว่าหนึ่งครั้ง คนล่าสุดคือคริสเตียโน โรนัลโด ที่ได้รับรางวัลครั้งที่สองของเขาในฤดูกาล 2007-08 ผู้ที่ได้รับรางวัลมากที่สุดคือเธียร์รี อองรี โดยได้รางวัลสามครั้งในสี่ฤดูกาล
