วีวายหมาใหญ่ (อังกฤษ: VY Canis Majoris) คือดาวฤกษ์ชนิดดาวยักษ์ใหญ่ยิ่งแดง ตั้งอยู่บริเวณกลุ่มดาวหมาใหญ่ มีขนาดประมาณ 1,420 เท่าของรัศมีของดวงอาทิตย์ (8.4-9.8 หน่วยดาราศาสตร์/เส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง ~2,000 ล้านกิโลเมตร/2,000,000,000,000 เมตร หรือ 2.00 เทระเมตร)(มีขนาดประมาณวงโคจรของดาวเสาร์) ตั้งอยู่ห่างจากโลกประมาณ 1.5 กิโลพาร์เซก (4,900 ปีแสง) วีวาย สุนัขใหญ่ เป็นดาวฤกษ์เดี่ยว ซึ่งแตกต่างจากดาวยักษ์ใหญ่ยิ่งส่วนใหญ่ที่มักจะเป็นดาวคู่ หรืออยู่ในระบบดาวหลายดวง[5] ดาวดวงนี้ถูกจัดประเภทเป็นดาวแปรแสงกึ่งปกติ และมีความหนาแน่นโดยประมาณ 0.000005 ถึง 0.000010 กก./ม.3
