ไซเมทิโคน (อังกฤษ: Simeticone) เป็นสารกันฟองที่ใช้ลดอาการท้องขึ้น (bloating) และความเจ็บปวดที่เกิดจากแก๊สในท้องมากเกิน

การแพทย์ แก้

ยาใช้บรรเทาอาการมีแก๊สมากเกินในทางเดินอาหาร คืออาการท้องขึ้น เรอ และท้องอืด[2] แต่ก็ไม่มีหลักฐานว่ามีประสิทธิผลจริง ๆ[3][4]

ไม่มีหลักฐานว่ายามีผลรักษาการร้องไห้อย่างไม่มีเหตุผลในทารก (baby colic)[A][7] จึงไม่แนะนำให้ใช้ในกรณีนี้[4]

ยานี้ก็ไม่มีผลข้างเคียงอะไรเท่าที่รู้[8]

เภสัชวิทยา แก้

ไซเมทิโคนเป็นสารกันฟอง (antifoaming agent) ซึ่งลดแรงตึงผิวของฟองแก๊ส ทำให้พวกมันรวมเป็นฟองใหญ่ขึ้นในทางเดินอาหาร แต่ก็ไม่ลดหรือป้องกันไม่ให้เกิดแก๊ส[9]

เคมี แก้

ชื่อเคมีของยาก็คือ α-(trimethylsilyl)-ω-methylpoly[oxy(dimethylsilylene)] โดยผสมกับซิลิคอนไดออกไซด์[10]

ชื่อสามัญ (ไม่ใช่ชื่อการค้า) ของยาก็คือ simeticone ซึ่งได้เพิ่มในรายการยอมรับแล้ว (recommended) ของ INN ในปี 1999[10]
