Wikimania 2023 Welcoming Program Submissions
แก้Do you use Wikidata in Wikimedia sibling projects? Tell us about your experiences
แก้Note: Apologies for cross-posting and sending in English.
Hello, the Wikidata for Wikimedia Projects team at Wikimedia Deutschland would like to hear about your experiences using Wikidata in the sibling projects. If you are interested in sharing your opinion and insights, please consider signing up for an interview with us in this Registration form.
Currently, we are only able to conduct interviews in English.
The front page of the form has more details about what the conversation will be like, including how we would compensate you for your time.
For more information, visit our project issue page where you can also share your experiences in written form, without an interview.
We look forward to speaking with you, Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 08:53, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Reusing references: Can we look over your shoulder?
แก้Apologies for writing in English.
The Technical Wishes team at Wikimedia Deutschland is planning to make reusing references easier. For our research, we are looking for wiki contributors willing to show us how they are interacting with references.
- The format will be a 1-hour video call, where you would share your screen. More information here.
- Interviews can be conducted in English, German or Dutch.
- Compensation is available.
- Sessions will be held in January and February.
- Sign up here if you are interested.
- Please note that we probably won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX researcher will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g. in terms of wiki experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. If you’re a fit, she will reach out to you to schedule an appointment.
We’re looking forward to seeing you, Thereza Mengs (WMDE)

Invitation to participate in the #WPWPCampaign 2024
แก้Dear community members,
We are inviting you to participate in the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos 2024 campaign, a global contest scheduled to run from July through August 2024:
Participants will choose among Wikipedia pages without photo images, then add a suitable file from among the many thousands of photos in the Wikimedia Commons, especially those uploaded from thematic contests (Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Folklore, etc.) over the years.
In its first year (2020), 36 Wikimedia communities in 27 countries joined the campaign. Events relating to the campaign included training organized by at least 18 Wikimedia communities in 14 countries.
The campaign resulted in the addition of media files (photos, audios and videos) to more than 90,000 Wikipedia articles in 272 languages.
Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) offers an ideal task for recruiting and guiding new editors through the steps of adding content to existing pages. Besides individual participation, the WPWP campaign can be used by user groups and chapters to organize editing workshops and edit-a-thons.
The organizing team is looking for a contact person to coordinate WPWP participation your language Wikipedia. We’d be glad for you to sign up directly at WPWP Participating Communities page on Meta-Wiki.
Thank you,

Phased deployment of the CampaignEvents extension across various Wikipedias
แก้สวัสดีค่ะ
Apologies for writing this message in English.
I am writing on behalf of the Campaigns product team who are planning a global deployment of the CampaignEvents extension to all Wikipedias, starting with a small batch in April 2025.
The Thai Wikipedia is one of the wikis proposed for this phase! This extension is designed to help organizers plan and manage events, wikiprojects, and other on-wiki collaborations. Also making these events/wikiprojects more discoverable. You can find out more here on the FAQs page.
The three main features of this extension are:
- Event Registration: A simple way to sign up for events on the wiki.
- Event List: A calendar to show all events on your wiki. Soon, it will include WikiProjects too.
- Invitation Lists: A tool to find editors who might want to join, based on their edits.
Please Note:
This extension comes with a new user right called "Event Organizer," which will be managed by the administrators of Thai Wikipedia, allowing the admins to decide when and how the extension tools are used on the wikis.
Once released, the organizer-facing tools (Event Registration and Invitation Lists) can only be used if someone is granted the Event-Organizer right, managed by the admins.
The only tool that is available immediately after release is the ‘’Collaboration List’’, which is a read-only page that lists events and WikiProjects that people can join.
The extension is already on some wikis,e.g Meta, Wikidata, English Wikipedia (see full list). Check out the phased deployment plan and share your thoughts by March 31, 2025.
To Admins,
your feedback and thoughts are especially important because this extension includes a new user right called "Event Organizer," which will be managed by you. Once you take a look at the details above and on the linked pages, we suggest drafting a community policy outlining criteria for granting this right on Thai Wikipedia. Check out Meta:Event_organizers and Wikidata:Event_organizers to see examples.
For further enquiries, feel free to contact us via the extension talkpage, or email ikristiani@wikimedia.org. IKristiani-WMF (คุย) 12:46, 24 มีนาคม 2568 (+07)

Will you help us test - Improve how edits from Wikidata are shown in your Watchlist and Recent Changes
แก้(Apologies for posting in English)
Hello everyone, the Wikidata For Wikimedia Projects team is working towards improving how Wikidata edits are represented in your Recent Changes, Related Changes and Watchlist.
Below is an example of how a Wikidata edit can be shown in your Watchlist. The edit summary uses P-numbers and Q-numbers to describe what change has occurred at Wikidata and is shown somewhere in the article you are watching:
If you are not very familiar with Wikidata, the information conveyed in this way may not be clear on what has changed and we would like to explore ways to make these edit summaries less confusing and easier to understand, firstly by swapping Q- and P-numbers for their Labels, as seen in the example below:
Did you know? For Wikidata edits to be visible at all, they must first be enabled. This can be done in your Preferences:Watchlist and Preferences:Recent Changes settings, or by clicking the checkmark box from the Filters dropdown on the Watchlist and Recent Changes menu.
In short, we would like to test these changes on your Wikipedia. The changes would only occur to edit summaries that are generated by Wikidata, the majority of edit summaries will remain unchanged. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reply here, or you can post them to the Task Discussion page. Please feel free to reply in your language or English, I will use a machine translator to translate but I am only able to reply in English, sorry!
If you are interested in following this topic or hearing about our future work, we invite you to subscribe to our Mailing List. I will do my best to answer as soon as possible. Thanks for reading, - Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (คุย) 20:52, 14 เมษายน 2568 (+07)
