กองทัพโมซัมบิก มีชื่อเรียกอย่างเป็นทางการว่า กองทัพป้องกันโมซัมบิก (โปรตุเกส: Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique :FADM) ประกอบไปด้วย กองทัพบก, กองทัพอากาศและป้องกันภัยทางอากาศ, กองทัพเรือ, และ ทหารอาสาสมัคร

กลางเดือนสิงหาคม ค.ศ. 1994 กองทัพโมซัมบิกได้มีการจัดส่วนราชการใหม่ ภายหลังสิ้นสุดสงครามกลางเมือง โดยรวมกองกำลังที่งสอง ได้แก่ กองกำลังประชาชนปลดปล่อยโมซัมบิก (People's Forces of Liberation of Mozambique : FPLM) และ RENAMO.
