ลัทธิคาร์โก

ลัทธิคาร์โก (อังกฤษ: cargo cult) เป็นระบบความเชื่อมิลเลนาเรียนที่ซึ่งสาวกจะปฏิบัติพิธีการที่มีความเชื่อว่าจะนำมาซึ่งสังคมที่รุดหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีแล้วนำสินค้าและสิ่งของมาส่งให้ ลัทธิเหล่านี้ปรากฏอธิบายครั้งแรกในเมลาเนเซีย ภายหลังการติดต่อกับทหารชาวอเมริกันในระหว่างสงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง

วัฒนธรรมเกาะซึ่งโดดเดี่ยวและยังไม่เป็นอุตสาหกรรมพบทหารและสิน้คาเข้ามาในดินแดนเป็นจำนวนมาก ส่วนใหญ่ผ่านการปล่อยจากอากาศ หลังสงครามสิ้นสุด ทหารเดินทางจากไป ลัทธิคาร์โกก็ถือกำเนิดขึ้น โดยมีความพยายามในการจัดพิธีการเลียนแบบทหารที่ครั้งหนึ่งเคยเข้ามา มีการแต่งตัวเลียนแบบและใช้ โดยมีความเชื่อว่าการทำเช่นนี้จะทำให้ทหารและคาร์โกของพวกเขากลับมาอีก
