This picture is not a picture of the siege of tenochtitlan but a depiction of the Spanish conquistadors with their tlaxcllan allies fighting against the Otomies of Metztitlan in present day Hialgo. The picture comes from the lienzo de Tlaxcala. Metztitlan means place of the moon in Náhuatl (otomies venerated the moon) and the name is written both in latin letters and with an aztec glyph showing the moon with a face on top of the hillside.(The Art Archive/Antochiw Collection Mexico/Mirelle Vautier)
