วิกฤตการณ์ตัวประกันซิดนีย์ พ.ศ. 2557
วันที่ 15–16 ธันวาคม 2557 มือปืนเดี่ยว มาน ฮารอน โมนิส (Man Haron Monis) จับลูกค้าและลูกจ้างคาเฟ่ช็อกโกแลตลินด์ 17 คนเป็นตัวประกัน ที่มาร์ตินเพลซในซิดนีย์ ประเทศออสเตรเลีย หลังคุมเชิงนาน 16 ชั่วโมง เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจจากหน่วยปฏิบัติการยุทธวิธีบุกคาเฟ่เมื่อได้ยินเสียงปืนจากด้านใน[9] ตัวประกันหนึ่งคนถูกมือปืนฆ่า ซึ่งต่อมาถูกตำรวจยิงเสียชีวิต ตัวประกันอีกคนหนึ่งตายด้วยอาการหัวใจล้มระหว่างนำส่งโรงพยาบาล[2][10][11]

ก่อนหน้านี้ มีผู้เห็นตัวประกันถือธงดำญิฮาดและหลักชะฮาดะฮฺของมุสลิมเป็นภาษาอารบิก[12][13] (รายงานข่าวทีแรกสับสนกับธงที่รัฐอิสลามอิรักและเลแวนต์ใช้)[14][13] มีการอธิบายว่ามือปืนนั้นมี "แรงจูงใจทางการเมือง" อนึ่ง มือปืนนั้นมีประวัติข้อกล่าวหาทางเพศและทำร้ายร่างกายยาว และจะมีการพิจารณาคดีเป็นผู้สนับสนุนการฆ่าภรรยาเขา[15][14]
ตำรวจถือว่าเหตุการณ์นี้เป็นการโจมตีก่อการร้ายและเจรจากับฮารอนตลอดทั้งวัน[16][17] กลุ่มมุสลิมราว 50 กลุ่มออกแถลงการณ์ร่วมประณามเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว[18]
