คำแนะนำของธงนี้มาจาก[[สันนิบาติยุวชนอาหรับ]] ที่ตั้งสมาคมในกรุง[[ปารีส]] เมื่อปี [[พ.ศ. 2454]] ส่วนอีกแบบหนึ่งออกแบบโดย [[เซอร์มาร์ก สกาย]] เจ้าหน้าที่กระทรวงต่างประเทศของสหราชอาณาจักรประจำอาณานิคมปาเลสไตน์ โดยอธิบายความเป็นมาดังนี้ ธงนี้ออกแบบโดย [[ชาริฟ ฮุสเซน]] เพื่อใช้ใน[[การปฏิวัติอาหรับ]]เมื่อ [[พ.ศ. 2459]] และได้ใช้เป็นธงของขบวนการปฏิวัติอาหรับ (Arab National movement) ในปี [[พ.ศ. 2460]]
