English: This is an oscillogram of the voltages in a simple half-wave rectifier circuit with a smoothing capacitor. The circuit consisted of a diode, a 33 µF capacitor and a 10 kΩ resistor with a signal generator as input. The input signal (yellow) is a 5V sinusoidal signal at 60 Hz. The output signal (green) is the rectified DC output. Note the small 60 Hz ripple in the DC signal. This image is a crop from an Agilent Technologies digital oscilloscope screenshot.
