รางวัลแกรมมี สาขาบันทึกเสียงแห่งปี (อังกฤษ: Grammy Award for Record of the Year) เป็นสาขารางวัลหนึ่งของรางวัลแกรมมี เสนอโดยสถาบันบันทึกเสียงของสหรัฐอเมริกาเพื่อ "ยกย่องความสำเร็จทางศิลปะ ความสามารถทางเทคนิค และความเป็นเลิศโดยรวมในอุตสาหกรรมการบันทึกเสียง โดยไม่คำนึงถึงยอดขายหรืออันดับชาร์ต"[1][2] เริ่มมอบมาตั้งแต่งานประกาศผลรางวัล ครั้งที่ 1 ในปี ค.ศ. 1959

ตามคู่มือคำอธิบายรางวัลแกรมมีประจำปี ครั้งที่ 54 รางวัลนี้นำเสนอ:
สำหรับซิงเกิลที่วางจำหน่ายในเชิงพาณิชย์หรือแทร็กของการบันทึกเสียงหรือการบรรเลงใหม่ สามารถใส่เพลงจากอัลบั้มปีที่แล้วได้ หากไม่ได้ใส่เพลงในปีที่แล้วและอัลบั้มไม่ได้รับรางวัลแกรมมี ในสาขารางวัลสำหรับศิลปิน โปรดิวเซอร์ วิศวกรบันทึกเสียง และ/หรือมิกเซอร์ ถ้านอกเหนือจากตัวศิลปิน[3]
นักเรียบเรียงเสียงประสาน นักแต่งเพลง นักดนตรี และนักร้องพื้นหลังของงานบันทึกเสียงที่ชนะสามารถยื่นขอใบรับรองผู้ชนะเลิศได้[4] นักแต่งเพลงสามารถยื่นขอใบรับรองได้หากเป็นเพลงใหม่เท่านั้น
นับตั้งแต่งานประกาศรางวัลแกรมมีประจำปี ครั้งที่ 55 ในปี ค.ศ. 2013 วิศวกรผู้เชี่ยวชาญได้รับการพิจารณาให้เป็นผู้เสนอชื่อและรับรางวัลในหมวดนี้[5]
ทั้งนี้ บ่อยครั้งที่มีการสับสนกันระหว่างรางวัลบันทึกเสียงแห่งปี และรางวัลเพลงแห่งปี โดยทั้งสองรางวัลนั้นเป็นรางวัลสำหรับซิงเกิล หรือเพลงจากอัลบั้มเหมือนกัน ต่างกันตรงที่รางวัลบันทึกเสียงแห่งปีนั้นจะมอบให้กับศิลปินและทีมโปรดิวเซอร์ ในขณะที่รางวัลเพลงแห่งปีจะมอบให้กับผู้เขียนเพลง โดยมีคำอธิบาย ดังนี้
- รางวัลบันทึกเสียงแห่งปี เป็นรางวัลสำหรับซิงเกิล หรือเพลงเดียวจากอัลบั้ม รางวัลนี้มอบให้เป็นของศิลปินที่แสดง โปรดิวเซอร์ วิศวกรบันทึกเสียง และ/หรือมิกเซอร์สำหรับเพลงนั้น ในความหมายนี้ "การบันทึก" (record) หมายถึงเพลงที่บันทึกไว้โดยเฉพาะ ไม่ใช่องค์ประกอบการแต่งเพลง หรืออัลบั้มเพลง
- รางวัลเพลงแห่งปีเป็นรางวัลสำหรับซิงเกิล หรืออินดิวิดวลแทร็ก แต่ผู้ที่ได้รับรางวัลนี้คือนักแต่งเพลงที่แต่งเนื้อร้อง และ/หรือทำนองให้กับเพลงจริง ๆ ในความหมายนี้ "เพลง" (Song) หมายถึงเพลงที่แต่งขึ้น ไม่ใช่การบันทึกเสียง
- รางวัลอัลบั้มแห่งปีสำหรับทั้งเพลงอัลบั้ม และมอบรางวัลให้กับศิลปิน นักแต่งเพลง โปรดิวเซอร์ วิศวกรบันทึกเสียง และวิศวกรมาสเตอริงสำหรับอัลบั้มนั้น ในความหมายนี้ "อัลบั้ม" (album) หมายถึงชุดเพลงที่บันทึกไว้ (แผ่นเสียงหลายแทร็ก ซีดี หรือแพ็กเกจดาวน์โหลด) ไม่ใช่เพลงแต่ละเพลงหรือการแต่งเพลง
