ในเดือนตุลาคม ค.ศ.2012 โซเฟียถูกกล่าวว่าเป็นเจ้าหญิงลาตินคนแรก[5] โดยโฆษกของดิสนีย์ได้กล่าวไว้ว่า "...ราชินีมิแรนดา ผู้เป็นแม่ของโซเฟีย ถือกำเนิดที่กาลดิซ (Galdiz) ซึ่งเป็นที่ที่มีวัฒนธรรมลาตินอยู่. มิแรนดาแต่งงานกับบิรก์ บัลธาซาร์ ผู้ปกครองอาณาจักรฟรีเซนเบิร์ก (Freezenberg) และค่อยย้ายไปอาศัยที่เอนแชนเซีย (Enchancia)..."[6]
