บริษัทชอว์บราเดอร์สก่อตั้งเมื่อวันที่ 27 ธันวาคม ค.ศ. 1958 โดยสองพี่น้องตระกูลชอว์หรือเฉาคือ [[รันมี่ ชอว์]] และ [[รัน รัน ชอว์]] ซึ่งก่อนหน้านั้นรันมี่ได้ร่วมมือกับพี่น้องอีก 2 คนคือ [[รันเย่ ชอว์]] และ [[รันเต๋อ ชอว์]] ตั้งบริษัทสร้างภาพยนตร์ชื่อ [[เถียนยี่]] ที่ [[เซี่ยงไฮ้]] และบริษัทจัดจำหน่ายภาพยนตร์ที่ [[สิงคโปร์]] เมื่อ ค.ศ. 1925 แต่ทั้งสองบริษัทได้ปิดตัวลงใน ค.ศ. 1937
