ดาวกัปไตน์
ดาวกัปไตน์ (อังกฤษ: Kapteyn's Star) เป็นดาวฤกษ์แคระแดงคลาส M1 อยู่ห่างกลุ่มดาวขาตั้งภาพไปทางตอนใต้ประมาณ 13 ปีแสงจากโลก มีความส่องสว่างปรากฏที่ระดับ 9 สามารถมองเห็นได้ด้วยกล้องสองตาหรือกล้องโทรทรรศน์.[3]

ประวัติ แก้
ดาวฤกษ์ที่ต่อมาได้ชื่อว่าดาวกัปไตน์ ได้รับการจัดหมวดหมู่โดยนักดาราศาสตร์ชาวดัดช์ชื่อยาโกบึส กัปไตน์ ในปี ค.ศ. 1889[9] เมื่อเขาตรวจสอบผังดวงดาวและแผ่นถ่ายรูป เขาพบดาวดวงที่มีลักษณะการเคลื่อนที่เฉพาะกว่า 8 ลิปดาต่อไป ดาวดังกล่าวได้ชื่อต่อมาว่าดาวกัปไตน์เพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่ผู้ค้นพบ[10] ในยุคนั้นดาวดังกล่าวเป็นดาว์ที่มีระดับการเคลื่อนที่เฉพาะสูงที่สุด รองลงมาคือกรูมบริดจ์ 1830 ต่อมาใน ค.ศ. 1916 เมื่อมีการค้นพบดาวเบอร์นาร์ด[11] ลำดับการเคลื่อนที่เฉพาะสูงสุดของดาวกัปไตน์ก็ตกลงไป แต่ยังคงอันดับสองในลำดับดังกล่าวอยู่[6][10] ในปี ค.ศ. 2014 มีการประกาศว่ามีความเป็นไปได้ที่จะพบซูเปอร์เอิร์ธในบริเวณวงโคจรของดาวดังกล่าว[12]
ลักษณะจำเพาะ แก้
โดยอาศัยการวัดพารัลแลกซ์ของดาวเทียมวัดการเคลื่อนที่ฮิปปาคอส[1] ดาวกัปไตน์มีระยะห่าง 12.76 ปีแสง (3.91 พาร์เซก) จากโลก[1] เมื่อ 10,800 ปีก่อนดาวกัปไตน์เคลื่อนเข้ามาอยู่ในระยะ 7.00 ปีแสง (2.15 พาร์เซก) จากดวงอาทิตย์ และได้เคลื่อนออกไปนับแต่นั้น[13] มีมวลอยู่ระหว่างหนึ่งในสี่ถึงหนึ่งในสามของมวลดวงอาทิตย์ แต่มีความเย็นกว่ามากที่อุณหภูมิ 3,500 องศาเคลวิน ทั้งนี้ผู้สังเกตต่างคนให้ระยะการวัดไม่ตรงกัน[6] มีการจัดประเภทดาวฤกษ์ไว้ที่ sdM1[2] ซึ่งแสดงว่าดาวดังกล่าวเป็นดาวแคระย่อยที่มีความสว่างน้อยกว่าดาวในแถบลำดับหลักในชนิดคลื่นรังสีเดียวกับ M1 เมื่ออาศัยการวัดความเป็นโลหะจะพบว่าดาวนี้มีสัดส่วนโลหะอยู่ 14% เทียบกับดวงอาทิตย์[14][15] ดาวกัปไตน์เป็นดาวแปรแสงประเภท BY Draconis และถูกขนานนามในชื่อ VZ Pictoris ซึ่งหมายความว่าความสว่างของดาวอาจเปลี่ยนไปได้ตามกิจกรรมบนสนามแม่เหล็กของดาวฤกษ์ในชั้นโครโมสเฟียร์ รวมถึงการหมุนรอบตัวเอง ทำให้จุดมืดของดาวอยู่ในระยะที่อาจมองเห็นหรือไม่เห็นจากโลก[4]
ดาวกัปไตน์มีลักษณะเฉพาะบางประการ เช่น มีการเคลื่อนที่เฉพาะสูง[10] วงโคจรถอยหลังจากทางช้างเผือก[6] และเป็นดาวกลดที่อยู่ใกล้ดวงอาทิตย์มากที่สุด[16] รวมทั้งยังเป็นหนึ่งในกลุ่มดาวฤกษ์จลนศาสตร์กัปไตน์ที่มีวิถีโคจรในอวกาศร่วมกัน[17] โดยอาศัยการวัดความเป็นโลหะ เชื่อได้ว่าดาวกัปไตน์น่าจะเคยเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโอเมกาคนครึ่งม้า ซึ่งเป็นกระจุกดาวทรงกลมที่น่าจะเป็นเศษเล็กเศษน้อยของดาราจักรแคระที่มารวมกับทางช้างเผือก ในขั้นตอนดังกล่าวดาวในกลุ่มนี้รวมทั้งดาวกัปไตน์น่าจะหลุดออกไปเป็นคลื่นเศษซากของดาราจักร[6][18][19]
ความเกี่ยวพันกับโลก แก้
ในปี ค.ศ. 2014 มีการประกาศว่าดาวกัปไตน์เป็นบริเวณที่ซูเปอร์เอิร์ธสองดวงคือ กัปไตน์ b และกัปไตน์ c ลอยอยู่ โดยกัปไตน์ b ที่มีอายุ 11,000 ล้านปี[12] เป็นดาวที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดที่อยู่อาศัยได้เท่าที่มีการค้นพบ โดยเมื่อเทียบอัตราส่วนกันแล้วดาวดังกล่าวมีขนาดประมาณ 5:2 แต่ยังไม่สามารถยืนยันเรโซแนนซ์ได้ อาศัยการรวมตัวของพลังงานของดาวพบว่า[12] ดาวทั้งสองอยู่ในสภาวะมีพลังที่เรียกว่า apsidal co-rotation ซึ่งเป็นการอนุมานได้ว่าดาวดังกล่าวมีพลังงานคงที่เป็นเวลานาน[20] ในการค้นพบครั้งนี้ อลาสแต เรย์โนลด์ ได้แต่งเรื่องสั้นไซไฟชื่อ Sad Kapteyn ประกอบด้วย[21]
