ชาวบูร์กอญ

ชาวบูร์กอญ (อังกฤษ: Burgundians, ละติน: Burgundiones) เป็นชาติพันธุ์ในกลุ่มชนเจอร์มานิคตะวันออกที่อาจจะอพยพมาจากแผ่นดินใหญ่สแกนดิเนเวียมายังเกาะบอร์นโฮล์ม (Bornholm) ซึ่งยังเรียกเป็นภาษานอร์สโบราณว่า “Burgundarholmr” หรือ “เกาะของชาวบูร์กอญ” จากนั้นก็ไปยังแผ่นดินใหญ่ยุโรป ใน ตำนานของทอร์ชไตน์ลูกไวกิง (Þorsteins saga Víkingssonar) เวเซติตั้งถิ่นฐานบนเกาะที่เรียกว่าเกาะของบอร์กันด์ หรือ บอร์นโฮล์ม คำแปลของสมเด็จพระเจ้าอัลเฟรดมหาราชของงานเขียนของโอโรเซียส (Orosius) ใช้คำว่า “Burgenda land” หรือ “ดินแดนของเบอร์เกนดา” กวีและนักตำนานวิทยาวิคเตอร์ ริดเบิร์ก (Viktor Rydberg) (ค.ศ. 1828–ค.ศ. 1895), ใน Our Fathers' Godsaga กล่าวอ้างจากแหล่งข้อมูลจากต้นยุคกลาง ตำนานชีวิตของนักบุญซิจิมุนด์แห่งบูร์กอญ (Sigismund of Burgundy) ว่าชาวบูร์กอญยังคงรักษาวัฒนธรรมการบอกเล่าต่อๆ กันมาเกี่ยวกับบรรพบุรุษที่มาจากสแกนดิเนเวีย
