ลินเส็ง

ลินเส็ง (Linsang) เป็นภาษาชวาที่หมายถึง ชะมด หรืออีเห็น แต่จริง ๆ แล้วลินเส็งหมายถึง ชะมดแปลง ซึ่งเป็นชะมดที่ไม่มีต่อมกลิ่นเหมือนชะมดหรืออีเห็นทั่วไป

ลินเส็ง แบ่งออกได้เป็น 2 สกุล คือ

Poiana (ชะมดแปลงแอฟริกา)
Prionodon (ชะมดแปลงเอเชีย)

ซึ่งทั้ง 2 สกุลนี้แบ่งออกได้เป็นสกุลละอีก 2 ชนิด^[1]^[2]
